Sorting Out Double Trouble: Solving Duplicate BRP Issue - United Kingdom
Recently, I got not one but two BRPs (Biometric Residence Permits) from the Home Office. Both looked exactly the same, except for their numbers.
Usually, if you get two BRPs with different info, it's easy to figure out which one to use and send back the old one. But in my case, both were identical, making it confusing to know which was the latest.
So, I reached out to the Home Office through their online form, explaining the situation and asking for help, here in the form you can fill only one BRP number, the other BRP number you can provide in the issue description. Surprisingly, they replied within two days.
They said they canceled one of the BRPs and told me which one to use. They asked me to send a photo of the canceled BRP , cut into half piece to make sure it's unusable. Email to send to is cdbrp@homeoffice.gov.uk
Following their instructions, I sent the photo and used the BRP they said was valid. This simple process helped me clear up the confusion and sort out the duplicate BRP issue.
It shows that even in tricky situations like this, communicating with the right people and following their instructions can lead to a quick and easy solution.
